The morning dawned - cold and misty .... we hopped that this would not be what lay ahead of us for the weekend! But what luck! The mist lifted and the most pleasant weather awaited us in
After meeting most of the group at the Petroport we proceeded in convoy to Polokwane. Here we made a last stop so to get supplies and we were ready to hit the road - that is, until "someone" locked his keys in the vehicle. Luckily we had superb service from the AA and within 25 minutes, the keys were out of the vehicle and we were able to hit the road.
After crossing the border, we were transported into a different world. Wild life abounds! Lots of elephant, impala, giraffe and warthog.
We reached camp (Molema) quite late and proceeded to set up our tents. After gathering around the camp fire, the weary travelers headed for bed.
An early morning call on day 2 saw us getting ready to visit Tuli lodge for our game view and a view of the confluence from the
Day 3 saw us saying goodbye to Molema and left to visit Mapungubwe back in SA. After taking a brisk walk up to the viewing deck, we were able to view the confluence from higher up - a much better vantage point from my view.
After visiting Mapungubwe we left for Ratho Crocodile farm where we stayed in luxury tents, overlooking a water hole. What a lovely place! I will definitely take my family to visit Ratho again. The elephants, monkeys, buck and warthogs loved the oranges that we put out for them and the Maribu Storks were amazing.
Day 4 saw us playing in the tick sand at the river, and trying to skim stones on the river, we returned back to camp for dinner and more fun and conversation around the camp fire.
